Gathered lampshade workshop

In this two-day workshop you will learn all the skills needed to make a wonderful gathered lampshade, and will be able to go on to make more for yourself or to make them professionally. You will be taught how to:

  • Gather your fabric, heeding pattern and positioning - you will learn two methods for this

  • Hand sew this onto the frame (you need no previous experience but a love of or big interest in hand sewing is key!)

  • Make a lining and position this into the frame and hand sew in place

  • Make your base and top ring bias trims and (yes you guessed it!) hand sew these into position

You will also be shown how to make a variety of other trims for your lampshade.

A one day gathered lampshade class!

In May ‘26 I am running a new, one day class at Clothkits in Chichester. In this class you will still learn all the skills needed to make a gathered shade to a high standard, however the outer fabric, lining and trim will be prepared for you to sew into place. You will leave with your lampshade and all the skills needed to either make more for yourself or for a business should you wish to make them professionally. Handouts of all methods are provided as are demonstrations on the day.
