Green mission

At The Lampshade Loft, we are endeavouring to have as little impact on the environment as possible. There is still a long way to go, but we will keep looking for the best options where possible.

The papers we choose to use for our lampshades are those usually printed on either recycled or sustainable papers or produced from cotton tree-free papers.

Our fabric comes from all over the world but we endeavour to source it from the manufactures directly - for example where the cotton fabric is block printed without machinery but by hand.

We are making more hard lampshades using paper as the inner lining instead of PVC, and the film we use to wrap the lampshades is made using Cellophane - a thin, transparent sheet made of regenerated cellulose - Cellophane itself is 100% biodegradable.

Our lampshade frames - for both the hard and soft traditional shades - are all designed and manufactured in the UK meaning less transportation to reach us and thereby championing British design and manufacture.

Our deliveries are made of course using transportation in lorries and vans, but we do re-cycle our packaging. If your lampshade is wrapped in plastic in the box when it arrives, that is because it has been sent to us within deliveries and we are re-using it for your order. Please try and re-use it too! Thank you.
